Meet Ms. Langan
Here's a little about me...
I grew up in Maine. I went to Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA where I majored in Music Education. My major instrument was tenor saxophone. I also play clarinet and flute which is why I love teaching recorder - they are all woodwind instruments. I've taught in Maine and in three other schools here in Austin before coming to Galindo. I am certified in the Kodaly Method of teaching music.
I am married and have a daughter who is a 5th grade teacher in San Marcos. I have a 2 year old granddaughter named Kenzie.
Some of my favorite things...

In music class we learn to read, write, describe & perform music. We do this through singing, playing, moving & listening to music. Starting in 3rd grade we play recorders. In 4th and 5th grades we take part in the Music Memory Contest. Students are expected to actively participate in music class in an open minded, positive way.
Music field trips include The Nutcracker Ballet in Dec. for our 3rd grade students and the Young People's Concerts in May for 4th and 5th grade students. The Austin Jazz Workshop brings jazz music to our school each year. Tapestry Dance Studio brings tap dancing and the Austin Chamber Music Ensemble often brings small groups of professional musicians to our school.
After school programs that students are invited to take part in are choir in the fall semester. In the spring after school classes include Recorder Festival practices and Music Memory team practices.
